  I'm recommending this hotel with some reservations. You will enjoy your stay there but may avoid disappointment if you go fully informed. The pluses are, really friendly, competent staff who offer great service. The interior valley setting is beautiful and it is only 20 minutes from the beach and 15 from Colunga the nearest decent-sized town. The building itself is a charming country house in a rustic Asturian style (so expect cracks in the wall) , plenty of space, gardens, lounge, bar, games room. The breakfast was outstanding, varied choice with plenty of local and home made elements.

  Wonderful, peaceful, stunning location. A magnificent historic building. Very welcoming and lovely hosts. Extremely clean and very good food.

  Avoid the first floor if you go to bed early or are a light sleeper. Noise comes up from the restaurant/bar area below. but you do get a good wifi signal there. With regard to noise; the place is definitely kid-friendly and because this is Spain this means little kids running around unsupervised, doing what they do best til 1am. The hotel seems to attract families with kids, the pool table and table football get a lot of punishment/dirt. You will avoid this once schools are back in September of course.

  On the down side, it seems that lately they aren't keeping up with maintenance. Bathroom elements and door locks and closure were a problem for us and our friends. Our door lock made it impossible to open the door without worrying about waking up half the corridor. We had a second door onto a shared balcony which we felt could be more secure. Of course you don't feel there is any risk of crime here but that's not the point. Didn't like cleaners leaving our door open while they weren't there either.

  A final point, the drive is 15 mins of constant bends into a lovely valley, but it did start to get repetitive after a couple of drives. I would happily stay here again and I guess the drive is the price you pay for this kind of tranquillity. It really is a rustic idyll.
